Edale to Chinley Linear Walk

From the Nag's Head, follow the Pennine Way for about 250 metres and then ascend Grindslow Knoll, which offers great views of the Edale Valley. Now we join the path along the edge of Kinder Scout towards Crowden Towers, which are near the highest point on Kinder at 610m; the highest point is 636m.

The edge path is followed until it crosses the Pennine Way, where Brown Knoll is ascended. If the weather is not too good, the Pennine Way can be followed from Edale to here. Brown Knoll summit is not reached, but the trig point can be reached. Then rejoin the path alongside the wall, heading to South Head in the distance. At South Head, bear right around the hill, joining a track. Crossing the A624, we now walk alongside the old quarry workings of Chinley Churn. Again this route does not go up to the trig point, but it can be visited if wished. The way back to the car park is easily found.

There are three ascents on this walk: climbing Grindslow Knoll is probably the hardest, then Brown Knoll and lastly heading up Chinley Churn. None are too hard.
