Visible throughout the Scottish Borders, the Eildons are magical hills associated with Tam Lin, The Queen of Elfland, Merlin, Thomas The Rhymer and King Arthur, to name but a few. Our walk starts at Melrose Abbey and climbs easily for a magnificent panorama of the entire region. Start and finish are shared with the St Cuthbert's Way. We climb each of the three hills - named Trimontium by the Romans, who established a signal station here - and although the height gain is a modest 300m the views are outstanding.

Absolutely stunning views and the waymarks are accurately described. Well worth the effort. Take a look around the pretty town of Melrose if your day allows - it really is a stunning place. Thanks Humphrey.

Walked this Oct 2004 with my wife and two children (14 & 10). Very pleasant afternoons walking up and down three hills. Ascent to the top of the highest hill showed it to be 1385ft with full 360 deg views. As mentioned in the review we found the views overlooking the borders outstanding.
