This moderate walk provides views from step one; starting from a typical roadside bar, passing the small village school and up past ancient Andalucian fincas (cottages). One kilometre out you can visit the village hand laundry, where the local women still wash their clothes by hand in cold running water using stone scrubbing basins. The minor road ascends to a peak, with views to your left as you ascend. At the crest you go up a stone cart-track onto the ridge, which you will follow back down. From the ridge you will enjoy views down to Lake Iznájar, Sierras de Subbéticas, Rute, Sierra Gorda and Sierra Gibalto. The ridge starts on a defined track and passes through olive groves as it descends towards another minor road that you follow down to the Bar Los Caminos. Here you can still buy a beer for a euro and get a free tapa. When you order your drink just say "Hay (pronounced 'eye') tapitas?"

Walked November 2021. First half of the walk climbs gently along a quiet country road. Care needs to be taken at WP7 (if you follow the track too far it comes to an abrupt end by some metal gates). Before then there is a small, ramshackle old farm building on the left of the track. Bear left and walk past this building then right into the olive grove where you will see the ruin (just a pile of stones) then follow the low stone wall on your right and you will pick up the path that follows the ridge line. Most of the path along the ridge is a wide earth track used by tractors working in the olive grove. Once you get to WP13 the track becomes less distinct but following the general downhill direction takes you back down to the road. Well worth taking a compass when navigating the ridge section.
