From the attractive mountain village of El Berro we begin by walking along the quiet road across the valleys before turning south to head up into the pine forests. A delightfully peaceful ramble brings us to the now derelict TB Hospital (see additional information). From here we will continue wending our way north-west through forest, with the opportunity to visit the casa forestale and recreation area La Perdiz if we choose. Reaching the point at which we turn north-east to begin the final stage, we have the opportunity to continue to the gorge called Valle de Leiva, where excellent opportunities exist for observing birds of prey. Returning the same way we now head along the GR 252, which takes us through lovely countryside. Soon we face a more difficult way, following a dry streambed which twists and turns its way back to the outskirts of El Berro.
