In this short walk, we climb about 100 metres to a viewpoint (the Mirador Cerro del Calvario) overlooking the pretty little town of Almaden de la Plata. The mirador is on a ridge and as well as the views of the town to the north, affords an extensive panorama to the south, spanning the southern part of the Sierra Norte and the eastern boundary of the Sierra de Aracena. At the crest are viewing platforms and information boards describing the main features of the landscape. On the walk we pass lots of cork-oaks and jara (rock rose).
Rock rose resin (labdanum) is important in perfume-making as an acceptable substitute for ambergris and there are still perfume workshops in the area.

Walk 4470 (Los Molinos) begins on the north-western side of Almaden, just a few hundred metres from the start of this walk. It is easy to do both in the course of a day's visit to the town.
