A large section of this walk is along the Harcamlow Way and it is on excellent paths throughout. The undulating nature of the countryside ensures a succession of fine views. The walk is on the border of Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Essex, but remains just inside Essex throughout. You visit the highest point in Essex on the way and on the day we prepared the walk, we saw three red kites and buzzards overhead.

Lovely walk! Did this on a cool but dry winter day. Lovely countryside, villages and rolling hills. Easy to follow instructions and waymarkers and not too boggy underfoot.

I live locally and can tell you that the dog and wildlife poisoner was apprehended some years ago and that the problem has not, to my knowledge, recurred. This is a very pleasant walk.

We started this beautiful walk in June 08 but unfortunately came across some Parish council signs in Crishall regarding unknown toxic substances around the pathways between Elmdon and Crishall. 4 dogs and various wildlife have unfortunately died. Although the signs were from Nov 2007 we spoke to a local homeowner and decided not to risk the walk as we had 2 dogs and we returned on the road. If you are thinking of doing this walk with dogs then I'd advise calling the parish council first 01763 838732. I hope you find this information useful and I definitely don't want to put anyone off the walk unneccessarily as it is a lovely part of the country!
