An easy walk to follow, which mostly uses the Severn Way, from Stonebench, heading around Elmore Back and passing Minsterworth on the opposite bank. The river is close to the upper reaches of its tidal limit here and this is the best place to view the Severn Bore. This is a large surge wave which travels up the Severn at spring tides and is one of Britain's truly spectacular natural phenomena.
Away from the river, the walk is mostly along country lanes, through the villages of Farleys End, Kenton Green and Elmore, which all seem to merge as they stretch along the road. Between them they mostly consist of a number of large houses, including Elmore Court, a grand mansion dating back to the 12th Century, a church which is somewhat isolated from the rest of the village, a couple of farms and a number of village ponds, all of which seem to have their resident ducks.
