An interesting short family walk on limestone at the edge of the Moine Thrust (see Walk 4361). Following an old peat road first, then cutting across moorland, the route takes you across a typical limestone landscape, with bracken-filled sinkholes marking the courses of underground burns, to a swallow hole where the Knockan Burn plunges underground. The plunge hole is known as Uamh an Tartair, or Cavern of the Great Noise. There are nice views and boots are advised. Young children should be tended when near the sheer 100ft plunge pool. This walk can easily be added to the nearby short but spectacular Walk 4361.
