The walk starts at Elsecar rail station and goes downhill through the village to the Heritage Centre. Here there are shops, café, steam trains (certain days) and play areas. After a look around, continue on the canal towpath to Hemmingfield and through the edge of the village, passing a play area, over the railway to Wombwell Wood, finishing at Wombwell rail station, with good paths and safe roads throughout.
