As soon as you leave the pub car park you will be met with a glorious view of the Harting Downs – one of the most gorgeous spots in the South Downs. There are no steep climbs on this walk, so it’s a great route for all of the reasonably fit members of the family. You will enjoy a variety of countryside along tracks, field-paths and downland, never far from the open views of the three folds on the downs towering above the village of Treyford. If you are lucky then you will spot some deer along the way.
You will enjoy a warm welcome back at The Three Horseshoes. In the winter there are huge open fires, which make it very cosy inside. For when the sun is shining there is a large garden with plenty of tables and the most stunning views of the downs – I really don’t think that you can better this view from a pub garden! Choose a sunny, clear day to enjoy this walk the most and please make sure that you wear suitable waterproof footwear as all of the countryside can have its muddy bits, especially after wet spells. Recently there have been quite a few new easy to open gates installed along the route making it very pleasant for walkers and dog owners alike.
