From the charming village of Enstone, the short distance to Church Enstone is idyllic, passing pretty cottages in quiet lanes before turning to enter a meadow leading down to a stream, crossed by bridge and footboards. Leaving the graveyard at Church Enstone, the route takes on an open aspect through fields above Heythrop Estate.

The woodland of Heythrop Park is delightful, with magnificent trees and a tributary of the River Glyme running through it, punctuated by waterfalls. The minor road-walking allows the walker vantage point views over glorious countryside, before arriving back in Enstone to marvel again at this most English of rural settings.

Generally, very easy route to follow. We were staying at Heythrop Park hotel, so started the walk at Point 12. Point 13; no camels, but did see zebras and kangeroos. Points 7 & 8: it had been very wet and the narrow footpath, just past Church Enstone Manor on the left, was extremely muddy and slippery - we had to hold on to the adjacent railings to avoid falling over (and we had walking poles). Point 9: again, because of the exceptional heavy rainfall, the slope down to the footbridge was treacherous - I slipped down the whole way, so got covered in mud. (You can avoid this section by taking the stile on the left onto the road just prior to the bridge and then re-joining the route straight after the footbridge, although this isn't an actual footpath).
