This undemanding yet interesting walk is ideal as a pipe opener on a winter day or to while away a sunny afternoon by the river. It starts by crossing the flood plain of the Thames with an outstanding view of Windsor Castle. The route then crosses some playing fields, but we are not sure whether they are the famous playing fields of Eton, to reach Eton High Street with its many restaurants, pubs and cafes and it easy to cross the bridge to explore Windsor, if you wish, before a charming level stroll by the river back to the start. We like to walk into Eton for a meal then, replete, dawdle back by the river where there are several seats to rest and enjoy the river scenery.
