The Golden Valley is an area of rolling hills and peaceful farmland. It gets its name from the River Dore which runs through it. Local people confused the Welsh for water, 'dwr' with the French for gold, 'd'or', hence the Golden Valley. Walks 4603 and 4604 start from Ewyas Harold, while Walks 4602 and 4605 start from the 'capital' of the Golden Valley, Peterchurch. Walk 4601 starts from Dorstone. On this walk from Ewyas Harold you are invited to explore Ewyas Harold Common, with its wildlife and wonderful views. Please feel free to leave the route given to wander at will and enjoy.
