Eyam - Foolow - Little Longstone - Great Longstone - Stoney Middleton - Eyam

A walk of contrasts and quite demanding, following mostly field-paths and tracks, with is some road-walking required, mostly through Eyam Village.

There are a few steep climbs and descents, mostly on the return. One descent along a gully from High Rake, an area of quarry working on a natural scar on Longstone Edge (now mostly filled in and levelled), is quite tricky; the path is narrow and steep in places. One of the steepest climbs is in the final mile of the walk. This can be avoided, though the easier path adds about three-quarters of a mile to reach the same height as the shorter, steeper route.

When walked, all paths and stiles were present, though not all were waymarked. There is an area where it is easy to lose the path climbing onto Longstone Edge.

The pub used on this walk is the tiny Packhorse Inn in Little Longstone. They are welcoming to walkers. Though much of the pub has stone floors, they do appreciate muddy boots being covered. There is a good choice on their reasonably priced menu. Also there are usually some interesting beers on hand-pumps, with Moorland's 'Old Speckled Hen' offered when walked. Outside there are a few bench tables in the small terraced beer-garden behind the pub, intended only for food and drinks purchased from the pub. At the front there is only a small area beside the roadside footpath with seating on stone paving for eating your own food, though there is a bench seat in the small parking area opposite.
