All the paths on this pleasant walk are in good condition and the route is quite flat, making this figure of 8 walk more like an extended stroll. There's only one meadow footpath that's not often used, and therefore quite invisible. The scenery is very pleasant and varied but mostly quite rural, and you are likely to see more local dog walkers than hikers. You do see quite a lot of the river, and as the last part is navigable if you're lucky you may even spot the odd boat. You are likely to pass through fields containing cows so take a walking stick to fend off any that may become too nosey. The walk is best in summer as some of the tracks may become quite boggy in winter. There are no stiles, and although some are quite old, all of the gates are in good order. This walk includes instructions for river boat users.

The walk is probably suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Excellent for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and difficult for buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled but boots will be best if it's recently been raining; and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there is the odd bench seat, and a toilet block near the end, but no other facilities except for those at the bub at the start and finish. If you book in advance you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
