This is a very scenic walk, giving spectacular views over Bolonia, Tarifa and out to Africa for much of the route. At the top there are outstanding views down to the village of Zahara, Barbate, Cape Trafalgar, Vejer and Medina Sidonia. There are also some dramatic rock formations to be seen along the way, plus likely sightings of griffon vultures and hawks, which nest in the rocks. The walk starts at the car park below the Faro de Camarinal in Atlanterra and heads towards the faro, then up the Sierra de la Plata. Although it is mostly uphill on the way out, the views make it worthwhile. You can enjoy them even more while strolling back down.

I would strongly advise anyone considering to do the add on - via the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia and then to Atlanterra across the Bolonia sand-dune - to check that there is still access to the path along the coast around the large military camp. When I visited the area in Mar 12 it was clear that the camp had been considerably extended as it now blocks route 2803 at point 6.
