This walk is situated a mere stone's throw from the industrial west midlands, but takes you through surprisingly unspoilt countryside. Starting in the village of Fillongley in North Warwickshire, you will follow footpaths and country lanes through gently undulating fields patchworked with woodland and dotted with timber framed houses, to the ancient hamlet of Maxstoke founded as a priory in the middle ages. From here you return to Fillongley via a different route.

Excellent walk although very muddy on our visit in January, especially at point 19. We extended the walk by starting at the superb "Griffin Inn" [real ale in abundance] at 'Church End' after asking if we could park on their car park and return for a pint after our walk. We then walked along Shawbury Lane opposite for about a mile and joined the walk at point 9. This extended the walk to about 9.5 miles.

Great walk but extremely muddy in most fields, especially around the stiles which is not surprising after all the rain we have had lately. We were glad we took our gators because the mud was ankle deep in places, but it was fun plotting your way through it. The weather was fantastic and you could see for miles. We intend to go back and do this walk again to see the Bluebells in section 9. Recommended
