This walk guide was originally created by Graham Wilson but Walkingworld are very grateful for Phil Catterall to be taking over this route, February 2022.
This walk around Flamborough Head follows the coastal footpath along the top of the cliffs from South Landing, around Flamborough Head to North Landing. There are fine views across the bays and wildlife can easily be seen. During the summer you can see breeding seabirds, including puffins and there is the chance of spotting seals bobbing about in the water. Twenty minute tours of the Lighthouse (Built 1806) are available between April and September on weekends and on certain day in the week during school holidays - tickets are £5 for adults, £4 for children, cash only (2022 prices). Pre-booking is not required.
After North Landing a 1.5km road section takes us back to the village of Flamborough, having all the local amenities. Freshly caught local crabs can be bought in the village from the local fish outlets there. The remains of Flamborough Castle and the old and pretty St Oswald's church near the start point provide an interesting diversion. Note the fishing connections and ship associations throughout the walk.
