This is a delightful walk around the village of Fontevraud l'Abbaye. The abbey is the last resting-place of Henry II of England, Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart. The walk is mostly flat but offers fantastic views over the abbey for almost its entire length. It can easily be combined with a visit to the abbey itself, which is highly recommended. You might like to take a leisurely lunch in La Croix Blanche just opposite the abbey entrance.

We stayed in a wonderful cottage here, Loire Luxury Cottages, a dog friendly cottage. We were able to walk from the door. Well marked path, very easy.
