The route is across fen country and beside the River Ouse, the River Wissey and the cut-off channels where the water flows from the surrounding fens into these channels. It is a popular area for boats and barges. At Denver the very popular Jenyns Arms is a free house and has a good selection on its menu. It also has accommodation chalets. There are several routes here, including the Fen Rivers Way which runs from King's Lynn to Cambridge.

We did this mostly pleasant walk in November 2013 and found that the permissive path at point 3 has a polite notice stating it is now closed. This causes no problem as you just continue along the river bank to point 5. Sadly our walk was spoilt by the last section (9) along the busy A10. The 'cycle lane' is virtually none existent while the grass verge was not the best to walk on - definitely not for the faint hearted !!!
