Initial section of walk makes way to Cabin Hill Nature Reserve and then into the dunes. A number of information boards describe the attempt to turn this area into a resort. Next section of walk follows the 'Lost Resort' trail through the dunes and pine trees to the expanse of Formby Beach. The beach section passes the site of the world's first lifeboat station and possible detour to 'Devil's Hole' depression. On a clear day the beach walk offers excellent views over the Mersey Estuary to New Brighton, the Welsh hills and Liverool waterfront.
