This walk takes you through some of the quieter streets of Formby before crossing the by-pass onto the open fields surrounding the town. Some of the area's extensive network of bridleways lead back to and along the fringes of Formby, all the way to the station. Among the buildings passed are the 18th Century St Peter's Church (look for the WW1 memorial at the front by the road) and the old houses on the corner of Grange Lane, almost certainly remnants of a mediaeval grange or monastic farm.

Lovely walk mostly avoiding muddy fields. Note that it is Grange Lane at waypoint 1; we walked on looking for Grange Road and had to turn back! The path at waypoint 10 alongside Westwood House is now blocked off but there is a new path further along just before the dual carriageway. Follow this in a straight line, along the left of the field, to reach the barrier at waypoint 12.
