This walk is another in my Corona series done on my daily walk during the lockdown. In happier times it will be possible to start from Waymark 5, Freshfield Station. The walk goes through woodland to reach a dune area by well-made tracks before going through more woodland to St Luke's Church, where you will find the grave of Percy French. If you look him up you will find that he died in Formby on January 24th 1920 of pneumonia brought on by the flu epidemic of that period. He was an Irishman, one of the most famous of his day, an artist, dramatist, stage performer and above all, a songwriter. He wrote hundreds and some are still known today, especially 'The Mountains of Mourne.' I felt it appropriate to place him in Walkingworld, especially at this time.
