Starting from the railway station in Frinton you walk along Connaught Avenue, which has been called the Bond Street of the East Coast, to the seafront. Here you have the choice of walking along the renowned greensward west towards Clacton, or descending to the promenade to walk in the same direction until you reach a concrete sea wall. Continuing for a couple of hundred yards along the sea wall, you then descend and cross a bridge over a wide stream then walk across the golf course, to reach a farmland path which you follow to the small and pleasant village of Great Holland.

Another farmland path takes you to a road and then an ancient green lane called Dead Lane, which again follows farmland all the way back to the outskirts of Frinton, where you follow a pleasant residential street back to the start point.

We did this walk on a lovely Sunday in August. We decided to do the walk in the opposite direction; starting from Point 1 going down Witton Wood Road into Dead Lane. This was ideal to walk the countryside, finishing with a glorious walk along the sea wall and up Connaught Avenue (with a well-earned tea stop). Highly recommended.
