This is a typically tranquil, rural walk within the centre of inland Andalusia, demonstrating how easy it is to walk surrounded by local mountains and splendid views. The walk undulates through western Granada province from the quiet village of Fuente Camacho down to a busier Cuesta de la Palma. The village bus returns Monday to Friday at about 1:20pm from Cuesta de la Palma. Wait opposite to the hotel adn restaurante. At the start of the walk the Bar and Supermarket López serves coffee from 10am (with or without a brandy or anis!) and you can buy water etc in the supermarket from 9am on Mondays to Saturdays. The walk ascends out of the village into olive groves and along a ridge, with views across to the Sierra Gibalto down to the white-walled village cemetery. You descend through an ancient Mediterranean oak-wood and a steep almond avenue, blossom time early February, out into an olive grove and up tracks into Cuesta de la Palma. The hotel and restaurant Ruta del Poniente serves the best tapas and menu del dia locally.
