This is an enjoyable historic walk along tracks and country lanes, through woodland and across fields. There are fine views of the countryside. In autumn, blackberries adorn the bushes, plus sloes and elderberries. We glimpsed a stoat and kingfisher and saw a kestrel, skylarks and pheasants. The large, deep pond was full of fish and skimming across it were dragonflies.

A terrific country walk during these uncertain times, it felt good to be free for a few hours. Only downside is the stretch along the main road, very busy with lorries and fast cars. If you have time its well worth visiting the abandoned Chapel which is just off the main street through Crompton. It's well hidden and an absolute gem.

This was a great walk. We veered off course after waymarker 4 and rejoined it at waymarker 8, thus avoiding the busy stretch of roads around Thursford. This alternative was very pleasant. From 10 to 11 we followed footpaths rather than the road. Don’t do it! It was very fieldsy and many of those were freshly ploughed...

This walk was very enjoyable and easy walking. I feel that anybody trying this walk for the first time should be aware of the very busy part of the main road which you have to walk along. This is the main road between Thursford and Briston. Please be careful. HW
