This delightful short walk is perfect for visitors to Galé who would like to walk to Albufeira, but prefer to steer clear of roads and traffic as much as possible. This route follows peaceful lanes and tracks with minimal walking on main roads. It offers an ideal alternative to those who might not wish to tackle the relatively demanding coastal route between the two places (Walk 8606), but who are not in a hurry to reach their destination.

Within minutes of leaving the busy coastal strip, you'll find yourself immersed in a vastly different landscape – one of fields and vineyards, tractors and swaying bamboo. Breathe in the slower pace of life as a tractor ploughs the adjacent fields and take a moment to gaze at the distant peaks of Fóia and Picota.

Don't miss the small sculpture garden, or the abundance of sandstone rock formations along the final stretch of coastal walking. If you have time, descend the steps to Praia de São Rafael, one of the prettiest beaches in the area.

The final descent to Albufeira Marina is along an historic lane. Its crumbling dry-stone walls contrast dramatically with the extensive housing development being built behind the marina (which was under way at the time of writing).
