This is the shortest of several circular walks in this locality close to Neston. A pleasant ramble beside the Dee estuary, up across Heswall golf course, with magnificent views over the Dee estuary to the distant North Wales coast. The first section of the route is along the edge of the old sea wall, now the edge of the Gayton Sands nature reserve. Parkgate was once a major port until the river was diverted in 1737 and the last boat left in the early 1800's. Follow the path over the golf course enjoying the magnificent views across it. (See photo on right), stroll over fresh meadows then back down to Parkgate, passing the Boathouse Inn on your way back to the car park. There are four other walks in this locality of differing lengths and routes; they are 7519, 7522, 7524 & 7563.

This walk is suitable for all the family and excellent for dogs. It will be difficult for buggies and is not suitable for wheelchairs. Wearing stout trainers will be fine for footwear and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no picnic tables or bench seats on the route, but there are toilets at the Inn. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with your drink at the Inn close to your car park, an excellent finish to a good walk. Tel 0151 336 4187.
