This is the simplest circular walk in this locality. First along the edge of the old sea wall, now the edge of the Gayton Sands nature reserve. Then up the lane towards Heswall Golf Club and then along the delightful Wirral Way Country Park, lined with a large variety of trees, shrubs and bushes. From here you will get magnificent views of the Dee estuary over the golf course, (See photo on right). The return route takes you along the Rope Walk where there was probably an 18th century rope works. Eventually you arrive at the famous Parkgate Parade ice cream parlour. The route then returns along the old sea wall beside the Dee estuary and past the 'Boathouse Inn' back to the car park. There are four alternative walks in this locality of differing routes and lengths, 7525, 7519, 7522 & 7524.

This walk is suitable for children, adults, senior citizens, and everyone in-between. It's dog friendly, and excellent for buggies and wheelchairs, except for one short flight of steps. Suitable footwear all year round will be stout trainers. There will be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no picnic tables on the route but there are numerous bench seats along the Wirral Way and the Parkgate prom. Also along the prom are several shops and refreshment venues. Toilets are available at the pubs. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with your drink, an excellent finish to a good walk. Tel. 0151 336 4187.
