The walk, varied in its nature, takes a route close to three Suffolk villages, but doesn't actually go into two of them, preferring to skirt by and keep to the fields and bridleways. There is a good pub almost exactly at the halfway point or, so long as it isn't a Sunday a lovely little cafe, serving a wide variety of food and snacks. There are odd bits of tarmac, but these are on very quiet lanes, except a short section near Finningham.

April 2025: Walked to check details that may have changed since original write-up. A couple of notes. The footpath after WP01 is a prominent tarmac path through housing. The bridleway at WP15 is well used and open, but the signpost has fallen over, so not visible from the road. Keep a sharp eye out for it, recognisable by solid posts barring vehicles. WP32 is just past Ivy Lodge (Farm) and is not the very prominent and signed path opposite Lodge Farm a little earlier. Finally, if thinking of lunch at Emzo's, it is essential to book ahead. It's very small and usually packed. They do have picnic tables for their takeaway though.

We walked this on 6.3.25 in glorious sunshine, which made a good walk even better. The start was a bit iffy, as not obvious, but after we headed up hill on the high street we soon found the footpath. Everything was brilliant until point 14. We couldn't find the Bridleway, there was a footpath but it was so overgrown we decided it wasn't the right one. We ended up following the lane to the end and picked up the route again by turning right at the end and rejoining at point 17. Cotton Lane was very muddy but we did see a flock of Fieldfare and it took us to Enzo's for coffee. I did feel bad about my muddy boots. After an enjoyable coffee we set off again. We then made a mistake at point 21, it was a junction not a farm entrance. Missing it probably added well over a mile to our walk but once we had made a few right turns we got back on track at point 23. Ivy Lodge Farm at point 31 was a bit further than we expected but it is there and the footpath opposite was not signed and only noticable because of the steps up to the field. All in all this was a great walk, we saw a herd of about 25 Roe Deer, Buzzards, Red Kites and the Fieldfare all to the sound track of Sky Larks and chattering birds. Highly recommend this walk, which we ended up doing 11.4 miles.
