This is an agreeably rural and varied walk within a great city, with a number of optional short diversions to points of interest. Visit Old Cathcart, which still retains its village atmosphere, then ascend Court Knowe where Mary, Queen of Scots, watched her forces fight and lose the Battle of Langside. Next enter Linn Park with its majestic, mature trees, admire its impressive 'linn' or waterfall and follow the White Cart Walkway through delightful woods to return to the start. On your way back you may choose to pay a visit to Holmwood, described by many as Alexander 'Greek' Thomson's finest house. It is now in the care of the National Trust for Scotland and open to the public.
