Glen Trool: Bruce's Stone – Culsharg Bothy - Benyellary – Neive of the Spit – Merrick – Redstone Rig - Loch Enoch – The Grey Man of Merrick - Rig of Loch Enoch - Valley of the Gairland Burn – Bruce's Stone.

A stimulating mountain trek from Loch Trool, up the 'tourist trail' via Culsharg Bothy to Benyellery and thence via the Neive of the Spit onto The Merrick, southern Scotland's highest summit at 2,764ft or 843m, from where one may appreciate superb views in every direction. Descent is made via Redstone Rig to Loch Enoch at 1,617ft and on to meet The Grey Man of Merrick. Return is via Rig of Loch Enoch past Loch Neldricken and the Murder Hole, Loch Valley and alongside the Gairland Burn, finally striking off across the lower slopes of Buchan Hill and down to meet the road to Bruce's Stone.
