Glensax - Dun Rig - Stake Law - Birkscairn Hill - Kirkhope Hill - Kailzie Hill
This is a long walk but full of interest, passing through parkland grazings, heather-clad slopes and valley and over small burns. Although Dun Rig is not a Corbett the walk produces enough climbing to keep the Corbett collectors fit. The route projects into remote countryside and from Dun Rig there appears to be only the continuous hillscapes of the Border ranges.
Usually walked in the other direction, the variety of views are better this way and avoid a homeward tramp along track and surfaced estate road when tired. Also, when the mist is hovering on the tops, it has usually lifted before you are required to negotiate the climb to Dun Rig. However, if you prefer to start climbing earlier, then the reverse direction is also enjoyable.
