This is only a short walk but takes you through the entire village of Goathland, includes a small detour to the railway station and also visits a beautiful waterfall.

The route starts off at the village centre and follows the main road through the village to the Mallyan Spout Hotel, which is obviously named after the nearby waterfall. The route heads down into a wooded valley to the river, where you may be lucky enough to see dippers. The route visits Mallyan Spout, a delightful high waterfall, before joining the old railway line back to the village centre.

A short detour to the steam railway station is definitely worth it! It was made more famous thanks to it playing Hogsmead Station in 'Harry Potter'!

What a great walk. Sturdy boots and walking sticks are recommended if you are going to see the waterfall. Thoroughly enjoyed scrambling over the rocks, the waterfall definitely has a wow factor. Directions were all spot on.

An excellent short walk. Very straightforward, good paths, nice scenery. The 'Spout' is worth a visit but word of warning - there is no path as such, just a matter of clambering over or round big boulders which were slippery even though it was a dry day. Go very carefully!

What a lovely spot the river walk is. To get to the waterfall is a bit of a scramble so I wouldn't recommend attempting it in sandals as some people we saw were, but worth it once you are there. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed playing in the bits of the river near to the path and then drying out as it moved away. The second half of the walk is a steady up hill all the way, it's not called the incline for nothing!
