I have walked much of the Thames Path and many canals in the Thames valley, but the River Wey is perhaps my favourite walk. I shall not reiterate a full description of the history of the Wey Navigation, covered very well by Richard Clayton in his introduction to Walk 31. This route starts along the river, but then veers off to the east - rejoining the river just before Guildford.
There are a few hills up and down, which might be tricky in wet weather so be prepared. However on a dry sunny day the views will be very rewarding. The route is predominantly on footpaths, bridleways and very minor roads, though there are a couple of A-roads you will need to cross.
