A circular walk starting from the car park in Golspie, ascending the recently improved tourist path through woodlands and open hillside to the statue of the 1st Duke of Sutherland on the shoulder of Ben Bhraggie ('Bh' being pronounced 'V'). Here the walker is rewarded with views along the Sutherland coast and across the Moray Firth.
The route continues beyond the monument, descending a trackway to the top of 'The Glen' with its maintained pathways along the banks of Golspie's 'Big Burn', past a waterfall and through a gorge. Arriving at the north end of Golspie, the route returns to the start along the seafront.
The 1,300ft ascent of Ben Bhraggie if not rushed, is easy for all walkers. Some soft going beyond 'The Mannie' is easily bypassed.
The walk passes the grounds of Dunrobin Castle, allowing extensions to the route within the grounds. The castle, open to paying visitors in summer, lies a mile off the route.
