A very pleasant walk in the Kent countryside, passing the famous Goodnestone Gardens on this circular route.

Goodnestone Parish comprises the villages of Goodnestone, Chillenden, Rowling, Knowlton and Tickenhurst. There are 150 residences in the parish and some 245 electorate. The parish is situated approximately eight miles south-east of Canterbury in the beautiful Kent countryside. Goodnestone is the larger of the villages in the parish and has a church, a school, a post office, a pub and a village hall. Goodnestone Park is the home of the Lady FitzWalter and the venue for many events throughout the year.

Goodnestone, although being a small village, is very beautiful; the people take a pride in their homes. The walk takes you out of the village, across some pleasant fields and gives some great views of the Kent countryside. Part of the walk is on a country road; it is quite straight and reasonably safe. Once you get near the bottom of the road you turn right onto a private road (footpath only). This takes you past Goodnestone Gardens. There is a tea shop in the gardens on the left (bring plenty of money) and the village cricket pitch on the right, all with great views. Once past the garden there is the church on the left and this backs on to the local pub The Fitzwalter Arms, where they serve not only drinks but meals.

Walk done on a freezing March 2013 day. This short walk was combined with walk 304 as suggested to make an easy morning/afternoon stroll. Easy to follow instructions with no problems. A excellent short easy short walk around the beautiful village. Good food in the village pub.
