This walk is part of the newly opened (2005) Dava Way between Grantown and Forres. The Way is 40km and this walk is one third of it (the other two thirds are Walks 2132 and 3091). From Grantown the route climbs through mixed woodland for about three miles before emerging on to the open, treeless, heather-covered Dava Moor. En route there are opportunities for scrambling and rock-climbing at Huntly's Cave and deer, buzzards, curlews etc may be seen. There are good views too, on the moor.

The new paths diverting from the railway have not bedded in yet, so can be muddy.

Refreshments are available in Grantown.
