The Wharfe at Grassington is superlatively beautiful and many people walk it. This route starts along the riverbanks but then leaves them for a wood, where the wildlife outnumbers humans and where the air is scented with lily-of-the-valley in summer. There are remains of an Iron Age settlement just off the route and the wood has its own distinctive charms at all times of year.

This walk could have been a lovely walk but was spoiled by the poor instructions in the woods. Fortunately I have a mapping GPS so was able to get us out of the woods in a reasonable time. With such a complex path structure that are not mapped only attempt this walk if you have a mapping GPS.
