Graydon - Col Ratti - Col de la Basse - le Plan de Criou - Graydon
An absolutely classic alpine round taking in a remote hanging valley at the base of the Roc d'Enfer and with wonderful views of the Mont Blanc massif from the Col Ratti.
The route starts from the hamlet of Graydon, where there is a small bar-restaurant and a fromagerie selling cow and goat cheeses made in the valley. Climbing up towards the Roc d'Enfer you may see a marmot or two, before gaining the Col Ratti with its superb views.
The return route is mostly via mountain tracks through forest, passing small alpine settlements on the way. The very last bit is on the road back up to Graydon, sadly unavoidable but it's less than a mile on a very quiet stretch.
