Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track, this circular walk includes footpaths close to Chester which are not often used; however, most pass through attractive countryside and are firm and very good. A particularly pleasant and attractive footpath is the one through the wooded section, but there are a couple of sections half way round which you may find a bit difficult and challenging. There are missing bridges over streams, and some sections are partly overgrown with brambles and likely to be quite boggy in place. So, this is a moderate walk and most suitable for more seasoned and experienced walkers. There are a wide variety of stiles, gates and bridges over numerous different brooks, all of them in good order except for the two missing ones. There is a short section at the start through the village and out along country lanes, but most of the route is along those pleasant countryside footpaths. However, it may be best to avoid the route in winter or after prolonged rain as the boggy sections mentioned above are likely to become extremely boggy.
The walk is probably moat suitable for older teenagers, agile senior citizens and anyone in-between. Probably okay for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Boots are essential footwear due to the soggy, muddy, or boggy parts, and wearing shorts should be avoided due to the likely encounters with brambles. Taking some small secateurs would be very useful. On your route there are no refreshments, cafés, picnic tables, bench seats or any other facilities except at the pub which is close to the start and end of the walk. If you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal there with a drink, an excellent finish to a good but challenging walk.
