Starting on the outskirts of Great Barton, this walk first takes you through open farmland into the eastern outskirts of historic Bury St Edmunds. As you continue to walk towards town, enjoy the great views of the cathedral tower and other historic churches from a good vantage point.
You move on into Natterer's Wood, a wooded but open area, built and maintained by local charity Woodland Ways http://www.woodlandways.org.uk/ourwoods.htm. Take time to enjoy the Giant Bat excavation, which is clearly visible on Google maps and has won environmental awards. Finally on leaving the wood, the walk takes in some more open farmland before passing along the edge of Barton Stud, where racehorses and foals can be seen.
