This walk starts on the main route from Rochdale to Blackburn in Norden, which has easy access for both driving and public transport. The first part of the walk goes through a residential area. After the urban area the walk climbs up towards the reservoirs and continues on a 'rollercoaster' path around them. This walk is mostly moorland but there are some small wooded areas. Before it leaves the reservoirs it crosses three small streams and passes a small waterfall. There are two embankments where short cuts can be made. You can see reminders of the past and also some of the wind turbines on Scout Moor. There can be a number of dog-walkers around Greenbooth, but the upper reaches are less populated with other walkers.
