This walk can seem quite a trek, though it offers many types of walking terrain, from easy riverside paths to climbs onto heather moorland. Most of the route is off-road, though there are some short sections of road-walking on the return, mostly along quiet village lanes.
Most stiles and markers were present when walked, with only one turn on the moorland section unmarked, which can be difficult to spot, as it is just a crossing of grassy paths in heather and bracken moorland.
The pub used on this walk is the Queen Anne in Great Hucklow. This is a pleasant village pub offering a varied, good-value menu and some interesting hand-pulled beers. Walkers are welcomed, though the usual courtesy of removing or covering muddy boots is requested.
