The walk starts on one side of the car park; the beach is on the other. The path leads up a picturesque glen, through heather and bog-myrtle, to the falls. From the highest point (150m) there is a good view back to Gruinard Bay and Gruinard Island. At its start the path is indistinct for a few metres, being grassy and not worn down; but a few metres up the river, it goes off grass on to heather and is quite clear.
