Walking from the parish church of Hailes to visit Didbrook, Stanway and Toddington in the heart of the splendid Cotswolds, this is a venture of interest and discovery. The villages each have their own appeal, the Gloucestershire and Warwick Railway never far away with its own distinctive sounds reminiscent of a bygone age. A few extra yards off the route into Toddington reveals a cathedral-like church, large and splendid with a mighty tower, the ruins of Toddington House standing behind it, and the grand and beautiful Toddington Manor nearby. Used as a college in recent years, the manor now stands empty. The last part of the walk follows the railway where magnificent steam trains run regularly at week-ends, an exciting spectacle these days.

Wednesday 25th July 2018,a glorious sunny warm day. This is a lovely flat walk with excellent navigation and easy to follow directions. My only gripe would be the road walking at waypoint 7, it was noisy and uncomfortable. I would recommend walking through the field alongside the road, depending on rights of way of course. Sunday 19th June 2016. Well directed but exhausting battling through field edges of chest high grass and growth. Toddington Station was active being a Sunday. A good day out.

Walked on 27.12.15 we were lucky to see the Gloucestershire/Warwickshire steam train running and the fountain at Stanway pumping high into the sky. Clarty in places after heavy rain but a top walk after Xmas indulgence. Thanks, Lesley and Noel Johnson
