Hartland and the surrounding countryside typify the beauty and ruggedness of North West Devon. This walk takes the 'vale' out of the village and then follows country lanes before linking up with the coast path past the old quay. At various points along the walk you may get a glimpse of the 12th Century abbey, which has been owned by the Stucley family ever since it passed from the monks in King Henry VIII's time. In 2011 it featured on BBC's 'Antiques Roadshow'.

This walk can be enjoyed at any time, but in spring the flowers in the valleys and country lanes are breathtaking.

A superb walk in a splendid part of North Devon, one our favourites. Great views and easy to follow directions, excellent! Be careful not to bypass the Stone Style at waypoint 5 on the left hand side, it was overgrown and barely visible.
