This is a lovely walk, half on the banks of the Derwent and half along tracks and fields. It offers a low-level alternative to the better-known walks in the area, which are along the higher ground of the famous Edges and is therefore handy on days of poor weather. Nonetheless it is a fine walk in its own right, especially in the summer and I am grateful to Maureen Peacock of Southport Ramblers who introduced me to it.

Thanks - Excellent walk with good instructions and photos. Only thing I would add to be helpful is the track between 15 and 16 is the best part of a mile long and goes through 3 or 4 gates. Then the road becomes tarmac and it is 250m further on to the stone posts. Otherwise perfect.
