A 4 mile circular walk starting from Haverigg village to take the sea defence wall around the seaward side of Hodbarrow Nature Reserve before turning inland around the rest of the nature reserve. Excellent views over estuary and Hodbarrow Lake on route.

The site was once the most productive iron ore mine in the world before it flooded. Some history of mine at

This is a lovely dog friendly walk that offers stunning estuary, lakeside and mountain views. It was nice and flat, which was essential as my husband has a problem knee. We missed out going to Hodbury point to avoid any climbs and sand dune walking so can't comment on that part.
