Hawkedon is a small village set around a village green with the parish church in its centre. This walk explores most of the village and takes in surrounding villages and a beautiful historic house.
The route begins by heading south out of the village towards Thurston End. A tiny detour takes you to a superb view of Thurston Hall. The house was built in the 16th Century and is one of the most historic houses in the area.
The route then crosses open fields to the village of Somerton with its water pump and quaint houses. The views along this section are very good for Suffolk as you reach close to the 100m contour. The path then descends back to Hawkedon past the village pub and to the Green.
